Happy Earth Day!!

On this beautiful morning, I am so happy for the emerging signs of spring and the sunshine!!  Even the birds were all a-twitter this morning as we walked to the bus, it's as if they too were celebrating this day!  Skipping down the driveway, little Bennie chattered away, all excited to begin lawn work, as this means opening up the garden shed, changing the oil and greasing up the lawn tractor.  To an almost 7 year old boy, the prospects of revving up the John Deere mower to cut the grass is an awesome one! ;)

The crab apple tree buds - we are all excited for these beauties to bloom!

the little creek in our side lawn - bubbling away

Millie spotted this wee purple posie ;)

Millie and Bruce have been busy caring for the seedlings they are growing.  Little skinny green bits of tomatoes, eggplant, beans, squash, cucumbers & flowers are all sprouting in their jiffy pots!  (I cannot wait to get into the dirt and begin the garden!  My kitchen herb garden is in some serious need of weeding and tilling ... but I was glad to see the vivid green chives - come on perennial herbs!)

Look - the seedlings have started!  Can you guess which pot Ollie planted?!  haha

it's amazing how much these little guys have grown in just a week!

my ever hearty chives - a welcome bit of green

Yesterday, Foxie was a very good grandson and went down to South Bristol to work in my mother-in-law's vineyard, pulling stumps for the day.  When about 20 rows were done, it was break time!  After a cold Coca-Cola it was time for a bit of fun!  Foxie and older cousin William, went for a few gator rides through the woods - getting muddy and searching out flat rocks to build a fire pit for Mammy.  My boy came home covered in mud but very, very happy ;)
Also enjoying the dirt and sunshine, Bruce and Ollie pulled out the rest of the stakes from the big veggie garden - now it's all set for Papa Bill to come plow up the dirt - mmmm - the thought of freshly picked vegetables makes my mouth water!!

a sure sign of boys at play - trucks on the top step!

Oliver & Bennie were disappointed that their sand box river dried up! haha

Who can resist a puddle?  Surely not Oliver ....

"Look, Mama!  My truck is swimming!"

Vroom-vroom!

thankful for our rubber boots!

As for me, I plodded through the laundry and the housekeeping, interspersed with crochet, of course!!  (Thankfully, Bruce doesn't mind helping me fold said laundry - it's always more fun with two!)

My Circles-In-Squares blanket is slowly coming along ... Millie loves the pink squares, Bennie the green ... I am thinking that this may become Millie's - I'm unsure of how this will look with the sofa - I'll only know for sure once it's finished, so I best get on with the hooky goodness!

I am liking the greens

this is one vivid pink!  I'm not too sure about it ...

the red and linen colored border help tone it down a bit ...

the skeins of yarn, all nestled in my yarn bag ...

more pink squares .... they're growing on me - Millie just loves them ;)

and the green ones .... I'm with Bennie - these are my favorite too

the ever growing piles of squares .... I guess the pinks are ok

my peek-a-boo crochet buddy! xoxo

Have a wonderful day and I hope that wherever you are, the sun is shining as brightly as it is here!
Happy Earth Day,
